Vietnamese composer and guitarist Huy Nguyen is known for crafting emotionally driven and immersive scores that elevate storytelling. His recent work includes original music for projects such as Kindness Blooms, Brushstrokes of Time, Cool Things with Ben, the video games Miniature Nightmare and Hex Chronicles, where he blends cinematic orchestration with modern sound design to bring characters and narratives to life.
Huy’s compositional style is rooted in his ability to translate emotion into sound, combining orchestral textures with contemporary elements to create distinctive sonic worlds. With a strong sensitivity to narrative, he approaches each project as a storyteller, shaping music that enhances mood, pacing, and character development. In addition to his scoring work, he has contributed to various creative projects through arranging, production, and collaboration, expanding his versatility across genres and mediums.
Before focusing on composition, Huy built an extensive career as a performing guitarist, touring across Vietnam with bands including Negative Band, KOP Rock Band, and Pak Band. He has appeared on major national television programs such as The Voice Vietnam, Vietnam’s Got Talent, X Factor Vietnam, Bài Hát Việt, and Những Bài Hát Còn Xanh, performing alongside prominent artists and gaining deep experience in live performance and musical collaboration.
Huy studied Music Scoring for Screen and Stage at Sheridan College, where he refined his skills in composition, orchestration, and production. With over two decades of experience as a guitarist and a diverse background spanning live performance, studio work, and media scoring, he brings a unique perspective to every project. Based in Toronto, Huy continues to explore new ways of merging sound and story, drawing inspiration from film, games, and everyday human emotion.
